Running mustangs, wild and free
Whose beauty awes all the people who see.
Their manes and tails are flying
And their grace comes without trying.
“Capture them,” men say when they see the sight,
Of these creatures who are wild, day and night.
Men wrangle and wrestle to bring them back.
Then check them over to find what they lack.
Something has disappeared from within the horses,
Something that was there when they were on their own courses.
Because they are trapped, and they know it, too,
