Fahd’s Odyssey

The steady drone of the cargo plane’s engine vibrated beneath the dark bay Thoroughbred colt’s hooves as the plane flew steadily through the sky. Dark Sha‘ar, or Fahd as he was less formally known, shifted restlessly in his stall and pawed the deep straw which he stood on. It seemed to him that he’d been cooped up in here for eight days, instead of eight hours!

“I’m tired of being cooped up in this boring old stall for hours and hours,” the two-year-old colt sighed, giving the strong wooden walls an experimental kick with his hind hoof.
