Star dropped her head and tasted the grass. Anything to soothe her hunger. She tried to chew and swallow.

“I wish I had some milk,” Patience whimpered.

Star agreed, but she didn’t say so. She looked up at the mountains and their snow covered peaks and shivered. It was so nice down here in the valley, even with the giant mud puddles from the flood. In some places the water was up to the foal’s chest still. Star urged herself on, but she was loosing patience with Patience. The two foals trudged on, calling
