Lone Stallion

Weathered by the test of survival,
Trust molded and melted during the passing of time,
Sole purpose to protect his herd from the harsh world.
Wispy tangled forelock cascading over tired, tough, gentle eyes.
Standing, alert, watching for danger.
His time hasn’t passed; he has passed from generation to generation,
And every colt is born with his fire.
Gentle winds weave through mares, grazing, with foals by their sides.
A whinny echoes through them; the whinny of the single stallion, watching.
