My manditory four hour shift tonight has been cancelled! That means I have met my obligation and am done for the month of November! Yippee! Of course, Steve sees this differently than me, but this means I can curl up with my Stevie and watch NCIS! Yes, And I don't have to go out in the freezing crappy rain and drive. Out of my scrubs now and back into my jammies! Please visit http://midwesthorse.blogspot.com/index.html for more horse stories, information and resources.

Non Native Speaking Call Centers

MidWestHorse Archive on November 11, 2008, 2:42 pm

When you use a call center or sales center do you get upset when they use non native speakers to answer your query?I wonder if companies who use non native speakers affect their customers view of the companyI know I often think the person I am talking to do not understand me or I did not understand them and worry something has been lost in translation with me getting the short end of the stick. Is it just me or do others feel the same way.If you could only choose companies who used native speakers

Staking A Claim!

MidWestHorse Archive on November 11, 2008, 9:01 am

As Miss Misty stepped away from the dinner table for only a minute to check out our failed attempt at the burn pile...................Kola staked a claim on the rest of the hay! Oh, they crack me up! Perhaps this is why I myself am territorial over my space I claim at work. Or the place I like to sit on the couch when watching television. LOL!Please visit http://midwesthorse.blogspot.com/index.html for more horse stories, information and resources.

Equestrian Lifestyle Expo & Holiday Market

MidWestHorse Archive on November 10, 2008, 5:36 pm

This sounds like fun and close to home for me, however I work weekends and it's unlikely I'd get the chance to go, but I thought I'd put this up here anyway. The weekend of November 22nd and 23rd, The Illinois Horsemen's Council is presenting The Equestrian Lifestyle Expo & Holiday Market, which seems to have a lot of well known speakers and demonstrators featured. Wow! I'd love to go! A couple of neighbors of mine as well. I received this info from the "Bra Lady" , Bonnie Granskog. I don't know

The Cold Weather...........

MidWestHorse Archive on November 10, 2008, 3:07 pm

Has set in. Of course by the time I grabbed the camera, Kola's shenanigans had really stopped, but she had spent the better of 10 minutes jumping and bucking and spinning at about 3pm yesterday and stopping to look up at the house. Wondering if anyone was going to come out and feed her. Nope, sorry, darling, a little too early. The goats were acting silly as well. When I did go out and feed, I had to wrangle these two out of the feed shed in order to get to the hay.Can you guess where we hide Spot's

A Little Trip

MidWestHorse Archive on November 6, 2008, 1:33 pm

Over the years, we've grown quite fond of our neighbors, after all they've been grain farming next door to us since I bought this place 14 or 15 years ago, but since Steve has been a part of this family, him and Art have gotten on like a house on fire. I think they are only a few months apart in age and Linda is also a nurse. We both have college kids, well their youngest is just out of college. So often Art asks Stephen to give him a hand with the farming during planting and especially harvesting

This Is Not An Arguement, Just Simply A Statement

MidWestHorse Archive on November 5, 2008, 3:28 pm

Politics by it’s very nature is a cyclic process. When any party with their own political doctrine as been in power for too long and therefore allows the excesses of that doctrine to control the country, the Democratic process which we in the western world are lucky enough to have allows “the people” to force a change and bring politics further to the central ground. And then it begins all over again! I for one am proud to be a part of this historic moment, risky as it may be. I’ll bet it

Can't They Just.............

MidWestHorse Archive on November 5, 2008, 3:10 pm

Go potty like they're supposed to do? Obviously not! This morning when I went out to feed, this is normally when they need to potty, so tennis balls and soccer balls are put away, so that these obsessive quadrupeds will do their duty, but no, they find other things to do instead like run around with sticks! Please visit http://midwesthorse.blogspot.com/index.html for more horse stories, information and resources.

Another Manic Monday

MidWestHorse Archive on November 3, 2008, 8:55 pm

After breakfast for the girls, I needed to take Stephen to Urgent Care as last week he tripped and knocked his chest into a post, so after a week of pain I finally convinced him to go. An hour and a half wait and then the Doc, I think he made an assumption that perhaps it happened while drunk. Well, that couldn't be funnier to us because Steve and I simply do not drink, ever! Actually , it was kind of offensive and then he yelled at Steve to brush his teeth as we left out this morning so quick he

Well We Didn't Get Down The Field But.............

MidWestHorse Archive on October 30, 2008, 6:39 pm

So I started in the yard and she was a bit sassy, but alright, so I thought probably not wise to head to the field considering I had her cinched a little loose. So help me out here folks. What am I suddenly doing wrong? She did this once before with someone else's saddle and in the end, we popped her regular saddle on and all was fine, but as I cinch her, I'm pinching a nerve bundle or something and her front legs begin to buckle and I have to quickly loosen it and trust me, it's not that tight.

Meeting Our Neighbors

MidWestHorse Archive on October 26, 2008, 10:24 pm

OH, About two years ago, a very nice horse property sat for sale at over a half a million dollars. Only back then, it wasn't very nice for that kind of money. Lots of acreage, a couple of barns.Today and since it was bought about two years ago, it has been transitioned into a lesson, boarding, and training facility. . Pastures all separated into reasonable areas with shade quansets and automatic waterers for summer. Behind the large barn, several paddocks, each with a three sided lean-to within
