YAY! It's Fixed!

MidWestHorse Archive on December 29, 2008, 8:24 pm

My beautiful red Dodge has been fixed! A resounding Thank-you to my marvelous husband, Steve, and our neighbor Art for finding the parts the "farmers" way. And to Jess for the suggestion of disconnecting the battery for a reset of the electronics! I have a new serpentine belt and exhaust and the gears are all fine! $200 bucks as apposed to some ridiculous amount at a service station! No dashboard lights flashing crazily at me! Oh what a great day! Please visit http://midwesthorse.blogspot.com/index.html for

Sunrise Breakfast

MidWestHorse Archive on December 29, 2008, 4:12 pm

It rained on Saturday so much that most of our snow melted and then overnight it snowed again slightly. It's winter and they've taken to fully pooping in the barn area, so Art, our neighbor, received his first full wheelbarrow full of horse manure on his field. Today, I'll dismantle the tree. I've already made Zoe's Eggnog Jello Yummy!, she's been nagging me about for weeks. Since the truck is wrecked , long, long story, anyway, I've just been outdoors pulling apart the battery and putting it on

MidWestHorse Archive on December 29, 2008, 1:52 am

Yes, Jess, Jackson has had his ears indeed perk up!Right now, I think he looks hilarious! And here is one of my Christmas presents from Steve. In hopes to find a saddle that doesn't impede Kola's gaited self and shoulders. My good friend, Mrs.Mom from Oh Horse Feathers informs me that this is a cut back saddle used on Walkers, so this really gives me hope. Now when I get a chance to try it and see if I'll be able to stay on.Please visit http://midwesthorse.blogspot.com/index.html for more horse stories,

SNOW PUPPIES

MidWestHorse Archive on December 25, 2008, 9:01 pm

I have just the 2 left. Spot is going to friends in Texas that just were married. I still have Dozer. They love the snow. I send them out with their Mom hoping they will start getting the idea and give the papers a break. They had their first bath today. Max is tolerating them better now that it is only the two of them. They listen really well. They just follow me around the farm like good healers should. They get upset when they are put to bed, just like Jack. They have had a taste of freedom.

American Airlines Is Crap!

MidWestHorse Archive on December 19, 2008, 7:51 am

Well, I can tell you folks that I don't think I've ever been more scared in my life. Zoe's American Airlines flight 5553 was due to land in Milwaukee from St.Louis at around 7pm December 18th, yesterday, when as Steve and I were approaching Mitchell Airport, we received a call from her. She was in absolute tears and panic stricken. Her plane was forced to land emergently after only being in the air 5 minutes. There had been a strange "boom" upon take off and soon the cabin began to fill with smoke

About Watering In The Winter...............

MidWestHorse Archive on December 18, 2008, 6:39 pm

Recently, I've been reading about a lot of issues with frozen hoses and troughs. All I can say is to tell all how I get through Wisconsin winters with at least three months of often below zero weather. So here it goes. I don't know what set up everybody has out there, but I learned this several years ago, after spending ridiculous amounts of time bucketing water to fill a trough and it taking hours in the freezing cold. This is what I have and what I do. Hope it helps!First I have an outdoor water

Teddy. Don't know yet for sure what Zoe will name him. He also has received is all natural flea bath for babies and was not amused! Sure enough, although his "area" was clean of flea dirt as he was cuddling into my neck, I saw it! It jumped right out! A flea. So all areas of house and clothing and bedding, even though he hasn't been past the extension have been sprayed, Cats have had their flea drops and we'll go out shortly to get puppy things and flea drops for the big dogs.
